American Profile: A sneak peek
Editor’s note: American Profile appears inside the Suwannee Democrat each mid-week edition. You’ll find USA Weekend, in Friday editions of the Democrat.
Here’s a peek at what’s inside the Wednesday, May 20 American Profile.
Cover Story: Nocona Survives- The family-owned Nocona Athletic Goods Co., in Nocona, Texas, is America’s only mass-produced baseball and softball glove manufacturer. When a fire in 2006 destroyed the 75-year-old company’s plant, the owner, Rob Storey, rallied employees and kept business rolling along.
Hometown Hero: Exclaiming and Proclaiming -For more than 50 years, Bill Knepp, 78, of Milford, Ohio, has been performing the role of a town crier, ringing a golden bell and proclaiming the news just as his historic predecessors did before the invention of telegraph, radio and television. Today, the honorary town crier of Clermont County maintains the tradition by dressing in Colonial garb and making announcements at parades, parties and public meetings.
Food: Potato Salad with Olives and Jalapenos
