Extrication was necessary to free an individual in a two vehicle accident.
A vehicle driven by Kelly Sue Miller, 41, of O'Brien who was seriously injured and was flown to Shands of Gainesville after being treated at the scene by Suwannee County EMS.
The accident occurred on Saturday, Dec. 3, on U. S. 27 near the Suwannee/Columbia County line.
According to a report issued by the Florida Highway Patrol a 2005 Chevrolet two door driven by Emily Parfait of Wells, Texas was traveling south on U. S. 27. The 1984 four door Buick driven by Miller was making a left turn into a private drive. The Chevrolet approached the Buick, according to an eye witness in a vehicle between the Chevrolet and Buick, and began to pass the witnesses vehicle, failing to see the Buick making a left turn. The Chevrolet struck the Buick's left side. The Chevrolet came to final rest on the right shoulder facing west. The Buick came to final rest on the left shoulder facing North.
According to the FHP report both vehicles sustained major damage. Both victims were wearing their seat belts according to the report, and alcohol was not a factor.
Parfait was taken by EMS to Shands of Live Oak.
Trooper B. S. Creech was the crash investigator.
Responding to the crash was fire and rescue personnel as well as personnel from Ranchette Volunteer Fire Department.
