Branford man killed in Gilchrist crash

Live Oak — A Branford man was killed Saturday in a Gilchrist County collision, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Quentin C. Hayes, 52, was pronounced dead at the scene, said FHP.

The driver of the other vehicle, Erica M. Lacher, 35, of Newberry, was unhurt.

Hayes, eastbound on CR 340 in a 1993 Buick, failed to yield the right of way when entering the US 129 intersection and was struck by the northbound 2008 Ford F-250 of Lacher, said FHP.

Lacher veered right just before impact with the right side of Hayes’ car, reports show.

The accident occurred at 10:51 a.m.

Lacher’s passenger, Michelle E. Seitzmeir, 36, also of Newberry, was uninjured.

All three individuals were wearing seat belts, FHP reported.
