State-assigned school grades were released this morning by the Florida Dept. of Education. Branford Elementary School regained its A status after falling to a B last year. However, Suwannee Intermediate and Suwannee Middle both lost ground, each falling to a C from a B.
Under new criteria which further discounts FCAT scores, grades for Suwannee and Branford High won’t be released until November.
The Suwannee district's overall grade computed to a C, down from a B in 2008-09.
No county school achieved Adequate Yearly Progress, a component of the federal No Child Left Behind program.
School grades were released after an independent audit showed this year’s FCAT scores, called into question in many districts, were accurate, according to FDOE
