  • White Springs man arrested on drug charges following an anonymous tip to police

    An anonymous tip led to the arrest of Zeakie Lydell Marshall, age 29, of 16846 Mill St., a boarding house in White Springs, on charges of possession of drugs with intent to sell within 1,000 feet of a church, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of less than 20 grams of cannabis, according to the White Springs Police Department (WSPD).

  • ATV use banned in Alapaha riverbed

    Law enforcement officers soon will begin issuing citations to persons who operate ATVs and other vehicles in the Alapaha riverbed and on its banks, in violation of Suwannee River Water Management District (District) rules.

    A young woman who died in a house fire at 6671 NW 27th Blvd. in Jennings on Saturday, Dec. 10, has not been positively identified by the medical examiner, according to Hamilton County Sheriff Harrell Reid.

    An important cog in the well-oiled machinery of Glueck's Chevrolet in Jasper will soon be missing - Sales Manager Henry Lee. At 87 years of age and after working in the same business for almost 56 years, Lee has decided it's time to retire and spend some time fishing and gardening.

  • White Springs man charged with attempted murder

    Shenner Mack Webb Jr., age 25, of 15390 SE CR 25A in White Springs, was charged with attempted felony murder, shooting into an occupied vehicle and two counts of aggravated assault last Sunday after firing a 12-gauge pump shotgun at one car and threatening the occupants of another, according to the White Springs Police Department (WSPD).

  • Jasper city parks closed to public 11 p.m until 6 a.m.

    The council of the City of Jasper passed an ordinance on Nov. 14 setting forth hours of operation for parks within the city limits. Ordinance No. 05-10-01 states, "The City recognizes that occupancy and use of the parks during certain hours disrupts the peace and dignity of the community and the peaceful enjoyment of property and homes by nearby residents.
