Everybody wins with HCAODP Coalition golf tourney

The second annual Benefit Golf Tournament of the Hamilton County Alcohol and Other Drug Prevention Coalition was held at the Suwannee Golf Course recently, and Hamilton County will be the better for it. Mike Williams, Coalition member representing PCS Phosphate, and Laura Dees, Coalition member representing the Supervisor of Elections office, were the coordinators of the event.

Eleven 4-man teams competed in the tournament: Burnham Church, Hamilton School District, Buck Roberts, Brandon McCoy, Vantage Networks, Jim Coe, Danny Johnson, Greg Godwin, Jimmy Morgan, Florida Alcohol Beverage & Tobacco (BAT) and Ed Touchton.

Taking first place again this year was Jim Coe’s team. Second place winners were the Jimmy Morgan team and third place was won by the ABT Team. Third place winning scores were tied between the ABT, Ed Touchton and Burnham Church Teams and a playoff determined ABT Team as the third place winner.

Corporate sponsors of the June 5 tournament were PCS Phosphate and Progress Energy and the business sponsor was the Hamilton County School Board and Superintendent. Hole sponsors were: Hamilton County Ministerial Alliance, Jasper First Baptist Church, Burnham Christian Church, Jasper Auto & Supply, Vantage Networks, David H Goolsby Jr., Hamilton County officials, Larry & Mary B. Cail, Dell & Jennifer Pomeroy, Judge Sonny Scaff, Hitchcock’s Foodway, First Federal Savings Bank, GTE Federal Credit Union, Ratliff Realty, Hitson Realty, Hallmark Driving, Donn Fenneman, D & S Signs, Clark & Joy Howell, Mike Adams Farms, Suwannee River Peanut, Jasper City Council and Suwannee Valley Motor/Tire Service. Special thanks to Billy Jackson, Grill Master and to the Jasper News for publicizing the event. Several businesses and coalition members provided door prizes and coalition members donated food and beverages for the delicious hamburger cookout luncheon provided with the tournament.

The Hamilton County Alcohol and Other Drug Prevention Coalition is a nonprofit organization that is striving to held build a new generation of young adults in Hamilton County that are healthy and drug free who will live productive and happy lives.
