Hamilton County: Minor injuries in Wed. night semi crash

Jasper — An Alabama man sustained minor injuries late Wednesday night after being cut off by another vehicle and losing control of his commercial freightliner on SR 93 in Hamilton County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Reports show that on Wednesday, March 20 at 11:59 p.m., Edgar L. Lewis, 33, Aliceville, Ala, was traveling south on SR 93 around the 465 mile marker when he stated he was cut off by an unknown vehicle and forced to steer to the right. Lewis said when he moved to the right his load shifted and he lost control of the vehicle.

The rig traveled off the west side of the roadway and overturned onto its right side, ejecting the load onto the middle and right lanes of SR 93, and coming to final rest in the emergency lane on its right side facing southeast. Lewis, who sustained minor injuries in the crash, was unable to provide any information on the other vehicle that cut him off, according to FHP.

Reports further state that just after the crash, Cary Roshoff, 58, Jacksonville, was traveling south in a 2001 Toyota Sequoia and drove into the crash scene that included a load of metal that Lewis was hauling. Roshoff’s vehicle suffered tire and undercarriage damage and became disabled north of the crash scene. Roshoff stated that he saw a vehicle cut off the semi, but was unable to provide a description of it. Roshoff was not injured, FHP said.
