Jasper —
A Jasper husband and wife who were out on bond from being arrested in July on methamphetamine and child abuse charges were re-arrested by the Hamilton County Drug Task Force (DTF) on Monday, Jan. 23 on charges of manufacturing methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Russell Lee Fry Jr., 42, and Michelle Lynn Fry, 39, both of 11763 NE 32nd St. in Jasper,
are being held without bond in the Hamilton County Jail, according to booking reports from Hamilton County Sheriff's Office.
On Jan. 23, DTF Officers went to the Fry residence to make an arrest stemming from an undercover meth buy from the Fry’s, said officials at HCSO.
Upon entering the Fry's mobile home, one officer stated in the arrest reports that he detected a strong chemical odor and that his skin began tingling, which is consistent with methamphetamine cooking.
Reports state that during a search of the residence officers found an active cooking meth pot sitting on top of a television in the master bedroom. The “one pot” cook was inside a Gatorade bottle. Officers secured the residence and then obtained another search warrant. Meanwhile, an investigator arrived and removed the “one pot” cook from the home and processed the evidence.
Results of the second search of the residence revealed numerous drug paraphernalia from the bedroom, bathroom, living room and hallway consistent with the manufacture of methamphetamine were recovered and placed into evidence, officials said.
Based on all the evidence at the scene, both Russell and Michelle Fry were taken into custody on charges of manufacturing methamphetamine, as well as other charges stemming from the undercover drug buy and booked into the Hamilton County Jail. The Drug Enforcement Agency took custody of the evidence and is assisting with the case, reports show.
Previous arrest
On July 19, 2011, Russell and Michelle Fry were arrested by the DTF for manufacturing meth out of an adjoining garage of their home at 1131 Maplewood Rd. in Jasper, while their two children, ages three and five were present. They were booked on six charges each of manufacturing in methamphetamine, trafficking in methamphetamine, child abuse, possession of less than 20 grams of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of listed chemicals, HCSO reports stated.
All occupants were removed from the residence for their safety and checked by Hamilton County EMS. One child appeared to have a breathing problem and was hard to wake up. Both children were transferred to a family member, said officials at that time.
The July 19 report stated more evidence was found in the living room and an active methamphetamine cooking area was found in the garage. All the evidence was processed by Hamilton County DTF with assistance from Columbia County officials. Russell and Michelle Fry were booked into the Hamilton County Jail on $50,000 bond each.
