The hunt for a new town manager for White Springs continues. To date, three people have applied for the position, according to interim town manager/town clerk Shirley Heath.
The three applicants are Joe Griffin from the town of White Springs, Bob Farley, former Live Oak city manager, and Jason Hughes from Lake City.
Heath stated via e-mail that no salary has been set for the position, other than it is negotiable.
Former White Springs town manager Robert Townsend was placed on paid administrative leave March 28 at an emergency town hall meeting after it was learned he might be under investigation by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE).
On April 18, Townsend opted to submit his letter of resignation and on April 26, after a week’s delay to verify pension benefits, the town council voted to accept Townsend’s resignation. Heath, the town clerk, was then appointed as interim town manager.
