A Lake City man died in a high-speed crash in Hamilton County early today, according to FHP. Willard Craig Busby, 59, died at the scene of the 4 a.m. accident about 9 miles north of White Springs, reports show.
According to FHP, Busby was traveling south at more than 90 mph on CR 135 near SE 182nd Boulevard when he failed to negotiate a right curve. Busby’s 2007 Ford F-150 pickup entered the grassy left shoulder, at which point he swerved right and then left in an attempt to regain control, FHP said. The pickup then reentered the left shoulder and struck a telephone junction box, a cattle fence and a power pole before overturning.
Busby, who was not wearing a seatbelt, according to FHP, died at the scene shortly after being extricated from the vehicle.
