Michael Anthony Wimberly, 58, of Mayo, was killed when the tractor-trailer he was driving overturned, according to a Florida Highway Patrol press release.
Wimberly was turning north onto the on-ramp to northbound I-75 from the westbound lane of SR 6 about 8:30 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 9. He began braking the truck as he entered the on-ramp and the truck overturned onto its left side on the ramp, FHP said.
Wimberly was transported to Trinity Community Hospital in Jasper, where he was pronounced dead, according to the report. Alcohol was not involved in the accident and Wimberly was wearing a seatbelt, FHP said.
John A. Cruce Trucking, Inc. owned the 2001 Peterbilt tractor, which received approximately $80,000 damage, according to the report.
