Firefighters from the Genoa and Jasper Fire Departments responded to a mobile home fire in White Springs Monday.
Upon their arrival at 14513 SE 87th Terrace units were able to quickly extinguish the blaze. The interior of the mobile home was completely destroyed by the fire, however.
A body was found on the property in close proximity to the mobile home, authorities said. Sheriff Harrell Reid said the body was that of Joe Horace Hunter Jr., the home’s owner.
An investigation continues into the circumstances surrounding the death and the cause of the fire, say authorities.
A memorial service will be held at a later date, according to an obituary from Harry T. Reid Funeral Home in Jasper.
