A Jasper woman has admitted to spraying a Wal-Mart security officer with pepper spray and making off with $626 worth of merchandise, according to Suwannee County sheriff's reports.
Wakeshia Melissa Jones, 18, of 10451 NW 36th Drive and an unnamed co-defendant attempted to leave the Wal-Mart store at US 129 North and I-10 with two computers valued at $626 on Jan. 6, sheriff's reports show. When store security personnel attempted to stop Jones, she sprayed the individual with pepper spray and fled the store with the computers.
Jones was arrested on March 5 after she reportedly admitted to the crime during questioning. A small container of pepper spray was retrieved from her person, according to reports.
This is the second time in the past six months that a retail theft involving the use of pepper spray has been reported in Suwannee County, according to Sheriff Tony Cameron.
Jones was charged with grand theft III, battery and resisting a merchant.
