Live Oak — The man police say is responsible for the armed robbery of a local motel and a Columbia County Exxon station was arrested in Hillsborough County last Wednesday, Aug. 25. Larry J. Marcell was arrested by the United States Marshals Service, acting on an arrest warrant issued by the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office.

The Exxon located at U.S. 441 in Ellisville was robbed by a rifle toting suspect on Aug. 22. A similar robbery had occurred earlier in the evening in Hamilton County. The

suspect robbed a local motel and was armed with a shotgun. The suspect’s description and

vehicle information were identical to the Columbia County case.

Detective Todd Green with the Columbia County Sheriff’s worked closely with the Hamilton

County Sheriff’s Office to link these robberies together. The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s

Office is holding Larry Marcell without bond pending his transport to Hamilton County.

Detective Green has filed for an arrest warrant for Mr. Marcell for the robbery to the Exxon.

The U.S. Marshals Service was able to recover a shot gun and clothing from the robberies

when Marcell was arrested.
