Jasper — Evester Loomis

Evester Loomis, age 98, of Jasper, Fla. passed away Sunday, Dec. 18, 2011 at her home, following an extended illness. Evester was born May 9, 1913 to the late Frank and Rouamie Bryan Sapp. She was a caregiver and homemaker. Mrs. Loomis was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Jasper. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles D. Loomis and her son, Billy L. Loomis.

Survivors include two grandchildren, Alex Loomis and Andrea Eberhardt (Edward); four great grandchildren. A number of nieces and nephews who shared in the responsibility of meeting her needs along with her niece, Linda McDonald who was her full-time caregiver.

Memorial services were held Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2011 at First Baptist Church in Jasper with Pastor Roger Hutto in charge.

Barbara Ann Griffin

Dec. 31, 2011

Barbara Ann Griffin, age 69, Jasper, Fla., passed away Saturday, Dec. 31, 2011 at Haven Hospice in Lake City, Florida. Barabara Ann was the daughter of the late James and Libbey Alford Kry. She was a retired nursing assistant and beautician.

Survivors include three sons, Rookie Whiddon, Chattahoochee, Fla., Rick Whiddon (Robin), Jennings, Fla. and David Griffin, Tallahassee, Fla.; one brother, Jim Kry (Martha), Bushnell, Fla.; one sister, Esteena Kry Wells, DeFuniak Springs, Fla.; six grandchildren.

Graveside services were held Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2012 at Evergreen Cemetery with Rev. Gary Abbott officiating.

Tracy C. Sweat

July 4, 1916 - Dec. 31, 2011

Tracy C. Sweat, age 95, of White Springs, Florida passed away Dec. 31, 2011 at Haven Hospice in Lake City, Fla. Tracy was born July 4, 1916 in Waycross, Georgia to the late Avender and Elizabeth Jordan Sweat. He was a World War II veteran of the United States Army. Mr. Sweat went on to work with the United States Government Civil Service Dept. at Jacksonville Naval Air Station as a firefighter for 31 years. In 1972 he retired to Hamilton County. Tracy was an avid reader of western books.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Alma C. Sweat, White Springs, Fla.; three brothers, Dorsey Sweat (Mary), White Springs, Fla., A.J. Sweat, Jacksonville, Fla. and Val Sweat, White Springs, Fla.; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2012 in the chapel of Harry T. Reid Funeral Home, Jasper, FL. with Rev. Tommy Lindsey officiating. Interment followed in Riverside Cemetery in White Springs, Fla.

Waldo Rogers

Jan. 26, 1929 - Dec. 27, 2011

Waldo Rogers, 82, of Jasper, Florida died Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2011 at South Georgia Medical Center after a lengthy illness. He was born on Jan. 26, 1929 in Berrien County to the late Ed and Irene Floyd Rogers. Mr. Rogers was of the Baptist faith. He was a self employed building contractor.

Survivors include his wife, Geneva Rogers of Jasper, Fla., son and daughter in law, Roy Waldo and Sybil Rogers of Jasper, Fla., three grandchildren, Jennifer (Stephen) Andrews, Denise (Clint) Selph and April (Laddie) DeRocco, ten great grandchildren, Sarah, Audrey, Anna, Sebastian, Rachel, Catherine, Miles, Ellie and John Ezra and Liam, one brother, Elmer Rogers of Valdosta, one sister, Mona Mottola of Tampa, Fla., and numerous nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his brothers, John L., Sam and Ernest, his sisters, Golda, Madelyn and Kate.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 31, 2011 at the Jasper First Baptist Church with the Rev. Laddie DeRocco officiating. Burial will follow in the Lake Park Cemetery with Reverend Keith Sandlin officiating at the graveside.
