Jasper — Alton M. Henderson

Alton M. Henderson, age 94, of Jasper, FL. passed away Sunday, October 9, 2011 at Lake City VA Medical Center in Lake City, FL. following an illness of some time. Alton was one of eleven children. He was born on the family farm in Jasper, Fla. on Sept. 11, 1917 to the late Frank and Mary Katherine Bell Henderson.  He served his country in the United States Army and traveled all over the United States with his job as a contractor before his retirement brought him back to Hamilton County.  He was a 32nd Degree Mason.  Alton loved rambling around the family farm, fishing and playing golf in his free time. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Jasper.

Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Sarah Stone Henderson, Jasper; two sons, Frank Henderson, Crump, TN and William Henderson, Jasper, FL.; one daughter, Marie Pardue, Jackson, TN; five grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Graveside services were held  Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2011 at Evergreen Cemetery in Jasper with Pastor Dale Ames officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 1298 Jasper, FL. or to your charity of choice.

Harry T. Reid Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
