Live Oak — To the Editor:
I believe, as many others do, that we need to bring more businesses into our county. We need the jobs, we need the financial boost and we need diversity in business. I don't understand however, how county Commissioner Fowler feels the actions of our county Clerk of Court is justified. If Mr. Baker's letter was 'a deal breaker,' as stated by Commissioner Caruthers, then our County Commission allowed one man to make a decision that affects every citizen of Suwannee County. As stated in your article, Eccostone's CEO, Mr Campbell, was offended by the unprofessional tone of the letter sent by Commissioner Baker. This is not the way I would expect our elected officials to conduct business for our county. I would expect our County Commission to act in a professional manner at all times, regardless of business prospects, big or small. Our County Commissioners are Ambassadors for our county, duly elected representatives who are delegated to act in our county's best interest. At times I feel the Commission forgets who their boss is; the citizens of Suwannee County. Elections are approaching, let's see if our Commission wastes an opportunity to receive a state grant to assist in our bringing businesses in. Time will tell.
