White Springs — This Thursday, PotashCorp – White Springs will sponsor the annual veterans’ luncheon at South Hamilton Elementary School in White Springs. Organized by long-time educator Deloris Howell, this program offers area elementary students with an opportunity to personally thank local veterans for their service.

 

For the second year in a row, PotashCorp – White Springs will sponsor an employee team at the Gainesville Fisher House Foundation “Run, Walk or Roll Vets Day 5K,” which helps raise funds for the construction of a new “home away from home” for active military personnel, veterans, retirees and families who are dealing with a medical crisis.

 

A committed community partner, PotashCorp – White Springs has focused a portion of its philanthropic efforts over the past several years on programs that support Florida veterans.

“PotashCorp – White Springs is grateful for the service and sacrifices our veterans have given to our great nation and we are privileged to have partnered with so many wonderful organizations to honor veterans for all they have done for our country,” said Terry Baker, PotashCorp – White Springs General Manager. “We thank them for their service on Veterans Day and every day.”

 

Working in conjunction with the Wounded Warriors Program and Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services’ Division of Forestry, PotashCorp – White Springs hosted an Oct. 25 fishing trip on its Hamilton County property for a group of disabled veterans. There will also be a hunting event in November, the week prior to Thanksgiving. These events are part of a series of hunting and fishing experiences for disabled veterans sponsored by the company.

 

In addition to the Wounded Warriors’ events, PotashCorp – White Springs has also provided veterans from the Lake City VA Medical Center and Douglas ACLF senior living community with opportunities to enjoy fishing field trips to the company’s onsite reclaimed lakes inhabited by native species, such as bass, bluegill and catfish.
