Live Oak — Virginia Marie Turnan (Ginny)



Nov. 22, 1937 - April 25, 2012



Virginia Marie Turnan (Ginny) passed away Wednesday, April 25, after a long illness. Born in Worcester, Ma. on Nov. 22, 1937. She is preceded in death by her mother, Catherine C. Shea Takesian and her father George R. Shea. Her husband of 39 years, Joseph Francis Turnan, who passed away in November 1999.

She is survived by Joseph F. Turnan, Jr. (Janet), Shawn T. Turnan (Ann) and Margaret E. Mohler (Randy), all of Live Oak, Fla. She is also survived by four brothers: Robert Shea (Jean) of Pharr, Texas, George R. Shea (Barbara) of Titusville, Fla., Paul Takesian of Eastham and Walter Takesian (Susan) of Needham, Ma.; five grandchildren: Valisha Chitwood, Lisa Mohler, Rebekah Bestoso, Brittany Turnan and Bryan Turnan; three great-grandchildren: Haley Chitwood, Joseph Chitwood and Katelinn Bestoso.

Ginny has fought a courageous battle with cancer for twelve years. Her courage, kindness, generosity were her strength and an inspiration to all.

Services were held on Saturday, April 28 at 10 a.m. from St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church with Father Andy Mitera officiating. Interment followed in Live Oak Cemetery. In lieu of flowers family requests donations be made to Haven Hospice of Lake City, Fl or St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Live Oak, Fl.

Wendy Bossuyt- Touchtone

Sept. 12, 1965 - April 24, 2012



Wendy Bossuyt-Touchtone, was born Sept. 12, 1965 and passed away Tuesday morning April 24, 2012. She is survived by her fiancé, Dennis Smallbone of Springhill, Fla.; where he and Wendy resided, Wendy is formerly of Branford, Fla.; she also is survived by two sons R.J. and Tyler Touchtone, her mother Harriet Clements and one brother Donald Bossuyt and family.

A small memorial service was held at her mother’s home for family and friends on Monday April 30, 2012 between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. at 370 SW Hudson Lane Lake City, FL; 32025.

Velma Maye Nabholz  



June 15, 1928 - April 24, 2012



Velma Maye Nabholz, 83, of O’Brien, Florida, died Tuesday morning, April 24, at Haven Hospice in Gainesville, Florida following a short illness.

Velma was born June 15, 1928 in La Porte City, Iowa to Hugo J. and Anna Weston Melka. Velma married Lyle L. Nabholz on April 23, 1946 in Emily, Minnesota.

Velma was a kind, meek and gentle spirit. She loved her family and her Lord. Her worn and marked bible was a testament to her faith. She travelled to Europe and throughout the United States and had lived in Iowa, California and Florida. Velma liked to sew, crochet and enjoyed nature.

Velma is survived by her son, Dennis L. (Lynda) Nabholz of O’Brien, Florida; daughter, Susan R. (James) Blonigan of Evansdale, Iowa; 6 grandchildren: James Nabholz of Clarksville, Tennessee; Debra S. Nabholz of Mayo, Florida; Kathleen A. (Robert) Scoles-Norman of Long Beach, California; Christian (Michelle) Russell of Gainesville, Florida; Michael (Cheryl) Russell of Alachua, Florida and Danielle (Erik) Perz of Micanopy, Florida; 8 great grandchildren: Michelle Goodfellow, Justin and Carmen Nabholz, Joshua Nabholz, Stacey, Tessa, Conner, Sara and Dylan Scoles, Cade Russell, Mercedes and Memphis Perz; her sister-in-law, Mary Lou Melka of Independence, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lyle on April 1, 1975; her sisters, Glenda Nabholz, Dorothy Schmidt and Opal Hirsch; and her brothers, Harry and Donald Melka.

Services will be held at the Midway Baptist Church, Mayo, Florida, on Tuesday, May 1 at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Midway Baptist Church.

March 20, 1936 - April 28, 2012



Shirley M. Sikes, 76, O’Brien, Fla., passed away on Saturday, April 28, 2012. The Red Bay, Fla. native was a member of Luraville Baptist Church. She is survived by her daughter: Arleen (Rick) Harper, O’Brien, Fla.; one son: James D. (Kathy) Sikes, O’Brien, Fla.; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 30 at Luraville Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Tom Bankston officiating.

Hillie Donald Hodges

Dec. 22, 1931 - April 30, 2012

 

Hillie Donald Hodges, 80, of Live Oak, Fla., passed away on Monday, April 30, 2012 at his home. Mr. Hodges moved to Live Oak from Thomasville, Ga. 43 years ago. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War and retired from Winn-Dixie after 24 years of dedicated service. Mr. Hodges was of the Pentecostal faith.

He is survived by two daughters: Pamela Cates, Louisiana; Janet Townsend, Lake City, Fla.; two sons: Eddie Hodges, Lake City, Fla.; Jimmy Hodges, Live Oak, Fla.; three sisters: Effie Foxworth, Elizabeth Foxworth and Jean Davine Fernandez; one brother: B.F. Hodges; and seven grandchildren.

A visitation will be held at Daniels Funeral Home, Live Oak, FL from 5 – 7 p.m., Wednesday, May 2, 2012. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Friday, May 4, 2012 at Lovin Funeral Home, 1218 Adel Road, Nashville, GA 31639.
