Suwannee Countians, it's time to speak your mind! How? By calling the Suwannee Democrat Rant and Rave hotline. The hotline never closes and is your way to let it out. You can let everyone know how you feel -- as long as you express yourself in a respectful way.
Note: In written entries to Rant and Rave, errors in spelling, grammar or punctuation are those of the authors.

For the love of God! How in God's green earth can the law enforcement take somebody's money without committing a crime. Where in the constitution is this allowed? Where is this due process? People don't be complacent, don't let them take your money!

I want to know why the post office here in Live Oak does not have a ramp out front for those in wheelchairs and parents pushing strollers. It is very hard to manage to take packages and a stroller up the steps out front. Just another example of the non-logical thinkers in this town

I bet if Florida gave the death penalty to first time child molesters, they would think twice, any comments?

I am disappointed in the Suwannee Democrat. Thomas Abercrombie did a lot for this community. Most of us had children who were influenced by him at some point and time as he worked at the Suwannee Middle School both on and off the field. It is a wonderful thing that they have now dedicated the memorial field to Tommy Abercrombie, but it is a shame that the Suwannee Democrat did not do more to tell the story of this event, showing pictures of the event that so many people worked tirelessly to put together. I am really disappointed in you, but I am really proud of what everybody in this community has done to celebrate a great man. Thank you.

Guess who voted with Nancy Pelosi and the other left-wingers in Congress on 8 out of 10 key votes, including the Porkulus bill, Cap and Tax, the Stupak anti-abortion amendment to Obamacare, and raising the federal debt limit higher than it has ever been in the history of the United States? Our Congressional Representative, Allen Boyd. (See http://nationalrepublicantrust.com/PelosiIndex/PI_BlueDogs.php.) More people in our Congressional district voted for McCain/Palin than voted for Obama/Biden. So why does our representative vote with Nancy Pelosi on 80% of the most important votes? Answer: Because we keep re-electing him.

I think it's ridiculous that OMI's motorized road sweeper sweeps a whole road right before the lawnmower and weedeater guys mow the right of ways, sending all the clippings into the nicely swept road, then the next day the sweeper comes back and does it again. This has happened more than twice on Walker Avenue. What's the deal?

To those who feel it is okay to set fire to your lawn to burn off dead pine straw, dead grass and leaves, while causing undue stress to neighboring people and animals, the city ordinance of Live Oak strictly prohibits it and so should you. People and animals, especially ones who suffer from asthma or other lung and heart conditions would appreciate it if you would cease this dangerous practice. If you live out on a farm it may be an acceptable thing to do, but not in the city. All it takes is one spark to start a major fire. Do you really want to be held responsible for destroying your neighbor's home or causing someone to die from inhaling toxic smoke? I think not.

I am told that gas prices are especially high in Suwannee County to pay for our prison system. So if you see a middle aged woman picking up trash by the roadside, just tell yourself, there goes a tax paying, law abiding citizen doing what the Suwannee County prisoners should be doing.

The person who ranted about the Feb.19 cartoon (next to the Rant & Rave column) was so angry and upset, that I had to immediately find that edition and check it out! I fully expected to see something immoral, maybe on the order of nakedness. Instead, all I saw was a cartoon full of the naked truth! If you don't have the Feb 19th paper, and still curious, as I was, try to get a back edition of the paper. It's well worth the effort!
