A West Virginia man died in a single-vehicle accident near Branford late Monday, the Florida Highway Patrol reported.

Jamie Lee Tucker, 31, of Camden on Gauley, was southbound on 41st Road, about six miles east of Branford, when he lost control of his 1995 Plymouth van shortly before midnight, said FHP. According to reports, Gauly was traveling at a high rate of speed and was likely impaired by alcohol.

The van left the roadway and struck several trees. Tucker, whom FHP said was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
