Jasper —
Hamilton County Schools let out for spring break on March 25 through March 29 and students at Hamilton County High School are looking forward to some time off from the books.
Senior Tyler Chapman said, “My plans for spring break are to go to Jacksonville to stay with my sister and when I get there I plan to go to the beach or to the mall. You know, just have fun. Plus I need to study. I need to do some work for school.”
Rachel Sullivan, another senior, said, “I plan to go to the movies with some friends of mine and just hang out and enjoy my break.”
Over spring break, senior Jose Cortez said he plans to play...his musical instruments, that is.
“I play the bass guitar, guitar and drums,” he said. “I’m in the worship group at church and we plan to do various things. We plan to go around and play for different churches.”
Cortez said he is also in the band at HCHS and plays the saxophone.
“Music is my life,” said Cortez.
Andrew Manalis is also in 12th grade and for spring break he has plans to go to the beach in St. Augustine, as well as spend time with his friends and family.
“Then, I’m going to celebrate Easter with my family and go to church at the First Baptist Church in Jasper,” said Manalis.
Junior Bailey Altman said, “Maybe if it’s warm enough I’m going to go to the beach.”
Altman said she usually goes to the beach in Amelia Island.
“I like going there,” she said. “Then I’m going to celebrate Easter with my family, probably work a little bit and play some volleyball.”
Altman works part time at Cracker Barrel when she’s not attending classes at HCHS.
“I’m going to hang out and enjoy my break,” she said.
