Live Oak —
Two Suwannee County men were injured in a Saturday afternoon crash at CR 49 and 180th Street, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
A 1985 Lincoln Towncar driven by Leroy Holmes, 78, of McAlpin, was traveling east on 180th Street when he stopped at the intersection of CR 49. Holmes reportedly proceeded eastbound into the intersection directly into the path of an approaching 2000 Ford Windstar driven by William John Christensen, 51, Live Oak, according to FHP. The front of the Windstar reportedly collided with the left side of the Towncar in the southbound travel lane of CR 49. After the collision, both vehicles traveled off the roadway onto the easternmost grassy shoulder in a southeasterly direction. The Towncar then came to a final rest facing north while the Windstar came to a final rest facing southeast.
Both drivers were wearing seatbelts, according to FHP.
Holmes suffered serious injuries and was transported to Shands UF.
Christensen suffered minor injuries and was treated at Shands Live Oak.
Charges are pending, FHP reported.
