Construction of turning lane for Silas Drive extension to begin

Live Oak — Drivers can expect to see daytime lane closures taking place on S.R. 51 over the next three months, the Florida Department of Transportation reports.

According to FDOT District Two Public Information Director Gina Busscher, the lane closures will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., between Evergreen Avenue and Pinewood Drive. Work crews will be paving a turn lane to the Silas Drive extension and the work is expected to continue for about three months.

Once completed, the Silas Drive extension will connect Walker Avenue and S.R. 51, providing direct access to the First Federal Sports Complex, Suwannee Middle School and Suwannee Primary School from S.R. 51.
