Live Oak —
141st Street could use some pruning of bushes and trees which have grown out so the view of vehicles is obstructed. Also, the curve next to the road leading to SMS needs some attention.
One more area is the parking lot of Dollar Tree - the huge hollies need to be cut back so one can see vehicles and folks when they are turning. This is a real accident waiting to happen!

The speed at which lots of vehicles use in Live Oak city limits is ridiculous. We need to do something about that. 45 mph and 35 mph zones are ignored by a large majority of folks while driving. What can be done about this law enforcement officers?

When will the 2013-2014 Suwannee County School calendar be made public? Also, will the dates of the FCAT testing be included in the academic calendar? Parents need to know these things so we can plan accordingly.
Some of the schools need to update their websites.
The Human Resources Department of the Suwannee County Schools does not include a phone number on it. Shouldn't this be standard for all the departments and schools to include phone number contacts. Direct me to the right place if I am wrong.

To the person who is annoyed by the workplace folks who "proselytize"; I'm sorry you feel that way. In my experience, it's because of the many religious beliefs held by my workmates that we have had such great conversations! We have all drawn closer to each other because we are tolerant of each other's beliefs and discuss the differences. It has made for a great work experience.

Just a response to last week's "Letter to the Editor" complaining about the State Supreme Court's decision to enforce the "piddly" 3% contribution rate to members of FRS. We in the private sector pay 100% of our retirement. You may need to wake-up and smell the roses. Also, your comment regarding lower pay is dumbfounded. I would love to see the Suwannee Democrat run an article and list the amounts paid (by the taxpayers) for government employees retirement and health care.

Hey Parents: Watch your children. They should not be running thru the parking lots of local stores unsupervised, and especially at night time. I was backing in the publix lot, and out of nowhere, I spotted a young girl running, and no adult in sight. I was very lucky to see her....and she is lucky too. Where was her supervision?

I am so fed up with the administrators at a local "institution of higher education"! A select few in the offices that take care of student business are so uneducated in their appointed office that it's just disgusting! Forget about the "Good'ole Boy system" and hire someone that actually knows how to process paperwork correctly and in a timely manner. Don't make the student responsible for your mistakes! Oh yeah, and don't forget that they have to honestly care about their students too. Chain of command with this institution is a complete FAILURE because some administrators feel that simply "listening" to your problem and supplying you with a metaphorical bandaid is the solution to everything! Also, I feel I must make this very clear, the instructors are amazing and in my opinion are under-paid for all the hard work, dedication and time they put into each student that comes into their classes (oh yeah, and for all the crap they have to deal with from administrators).

If it is not guns, it would be something else, and that is why Senator Feinstein's Gun Control Bill will fail. While growing up, my family taught me to respect all others, even if you don't agree with them, especially the older generations. I see grand-kids talking back to their grandparents nowadays. If I had done something like that to my grandparents, I would not be commenting now. I feel our society is now breaking down, and outlawing guns will not help at this point in time.

It is against the law to drive upon any sidewalk; however if you pickup up your child from Suwannee Intermediate School that’s exactly what the school board employee directing traffic makes you do, drive on the sidewalk alongside Pinewood Drive to await your turn to pick up your child. The school board needs to come up with a better plan!

Please share your thoughts when a school board member addresses the employees of all of the schools in Live Oak with an email that is riddled with improper grammar, punctuation and word choice as well as inaccurate information. As an elected member, one would think that when publicly addressing the constituents of the school system that one would know the difference between “weather” and “whether” or the correct spelling of “equitable”. Academically, one of our school board members is not where we want him or her to be.
One’s credibility can be damaged not only by writing an email such as this, but most importantly, not owning up to it. Stand behind your words or do not write them.

Ranting about the extremely dangerous stretch of 252 near the McAlpin EMT Station. It is continually getting worse on both sides. If the County isn't going to address the problem then Signs need to be posted for slower speeds. I for one slow down but have met oncoming drivers that did not and when they hit the holes they lost control and almost hit me head on. One thing we can be thankful for...it's close to the EMT's.

I think with the reconfiguration of the schools that the school buses should be only pre k-5th grade. My kids have never rode the bus because they are crammed with high schoolers and middle schoolers. Please fix this.

To the people that live on 179th road keep your dogs out of the street! I saw 7 today running the dirt roads. Very sad!!
