Gary Edwards Leadership Day coming to Live Oak

Live Oak — Gary Edwards Leadership Day is a free event designed for young men in grades 6th to 11th. The event will take place at the Suwannee High School Auditorium at 8 a.m. on March 9, 2013. To register a student, get information on sponsorship or to get more information please go to www.garyedwardsday.com to find out more information.

Former Suwannee Bulldog football star and American football linebacker Andre Davis is set to be at the event.
The event will focus on delivering modules that support the needs of young men in the areas of health and wellness, education, and personal development. The following modules and seminars will be facilitated: (1) Health Awareness, (2) Crime Prevention, (3) Dressing for Success, (4) Dining Etiquette and Chivalry.

The idea came about by Sherwin and Sherman Riley after Gary Edwards passed away in 2011.

Gary Edwards played an instrumental role in their life as he was their little league baseball coach and school resource officer. Sherman and Sherwin learned a lot of life lessons from Gary Edwards. Sherman and Sherwin are excited to honor Gary for his legacy as well mentor and train 100 young men in Live Oak.

Sherman and Sherwin Riley have been working hard with a committee formed in Live Oak to plan the logistics for the day. They look to continue to do things in the community to help young men achieve great things. Service and giving back to the community is very prevalent in their lives.
