Still no disclosure in Suwannee Landing lawsuit

Live Oak — The results of an April 17 closed door meeting between the Suwannee County Board of County Commissioners, its legal counsel and representatives of the Suwannee Landing project remain unknown, according to BOCC Chairman Wesley Wainwright.

“Nothing has been made public yet,” Wainwright advised. “We are waiting on a response from the other side.”

The executive session was scheduled to discuss pending litigation between TSS Development and the Suwannee County Board of County Commissioners. TSS Development LLC, the development company in charge of Suwannee Landing on CR 136 West, entered a lawsuit against the BOCC in 2010.

According to reports, the company feels the county should be forced to honor its original agreement that would allow residents to land their personal aircraft at the county airport and taxi to their private hangars within a gated community. The county decided not to proceed with the airport access agreement, which was never signed, citing the FAA had advised the county that such an operation would jeopardize FAA funding provided to the airport.

A court reporter was present for the April 17 Executive Session and once the lawsuit has been settled, the court reporter’s transcript will become minutes.
