The annual Pioneer Days festival kicks off Friday in Mayo with David Fountain Karaoke at 5 p.m. in Veterans Memorial Park.
The amateur talent contest was canceled this year for lack of participation, but townsfolk are encouraged to show up to take part in the karaoke event.
Vendors will be on-hand with a wide variety of festival giblets and jabs until 10 p.m.
On Saturday, the parade starts at 10 a.m. Lineup is at 9 a.m. as 2009 granny and pappy, Mozeta and Jr. Buchanan, take to the streets decked in their oldtown fashion.
Food and craft vendors will be on display all day Saturday at the park. There will be plenty of activities for both children and adults until 6 p.m. Entertainment will be provided. If you are interested in performing please call, as everyone has to be scheduled and time slots are limited. Contact the Lafayette Chamber of Commerce at 386-294-2705 or 386-294-3663.
