Lafayette educators are breathing a sigh of relief. Last summer, the school board was forced to freeze salary step increases for school employees in the wake of statewide budget cuts. However, the board has now canceled that action and reinstalled step increases. During the September board meeting Terry Fillyaw moved to void the freeze implemented on June 16 and the motion was unanimously approved. All Lafayette school employees will now receive a step increase retroactive to July 1, 2009.
