Live Oak — We marvel still at the audacity of it - an upstart colony going toe-to-toe with the world's greatest superpower. Unimaginable, really.
We marvel more at the intellectual boldness of it. The revolution wasn't just about tax stamps and tariffs. It sprang from the radical notion that each is master of his own destiny, and that those born to power had better start earning it.
It's an idea that's just as new now as it was in 1776. May it never get old.
