Emma Lu Hicks Lewis

Emma Lu Hicks Lewis, 76, Live Oak, Fla. passed away on March 3, 2013 in Haven Hospice while surrounded by her loving family. Emma Lu was active in the First United Methodist Church of Live Oak, having served on many committees over the years. She was a passed member of the Live Oak Garden Club. Emma Lu was born in White Springs, Fla. on Sept. 29, 1936 and moved to Live Oak at the age of 12. She married C. Dean Lewis in June of 1955 and had a very happy marriage for over 57 years. She is survived by her husband C. Dean Lewis and her two daughters: Caryl Lyn Lewis & Leigh Lewis Owens; one grandchild, Noah Robert Owens and brother: Daniel Hicks. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 7 at First United Methodist Church with Dr. Will Finnin. Interment will follow in the Live Oak Cemetery.

Lavina “Wootsey” Brim

Lavina “Wootsey” Brim, age 101 of Live Oak, Fla. passed away Monday, March 4, 2013 at her home following a lengthy illness.  The Horseshoe, Fla. native lived most of her life in Live Oak.  She was a homemaker and had a passion for sewing and was an excellent seamstress.  She was a member of the Clayland Baptist Church.
She was predeceased by her husband, W.O. “Oscar” Brim.
She is survived by two daughters, Velda Lavone (Marcus) Durham, Live Oak, Fla.; Laveta (Wesley) Davis, Citrus Springs, Fla.; three grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services at the church from 10 to 11 a.m. 
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Wednesday, March 6, 2013 in the Clayland Baptist Church with Rev. Ronald Leggett and Rev. Bill Lawhon officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Joseph Bennett Stewart

Joseph Bennett “Joe Boy” Stewart age 68, of Live Oak, Fla. passed away Thursday, Feb. 28, 2013 at North Florida Regional Medical Center in Gainesville, Fla. following a courageous battle with cancer.  He was born in Jacksonville, Fla. living all of his life in Live Oak.  Joe boy better known by his family and friends worked for PCS for many years as an electrician. He loved spending time on the Suwannee River in his Ski Natique boat named “Trouble”.  He was inducted into the SHS Athletic Hall of Fame in 2012 as part of the 1962 football team and was a member of the Westwood Baptist Church.
He was predeceased by his parents Jessie and Melba Stewart.
Survivors include two sisters, Bonnie Culver, Jacksonville, Fla.; Jean Johnson, Live Oak.
Visitation was held Monday, March 4, 2013 one hour prior to the services from 1 to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. in the Live Oak Cemetery with Dr. Jimmy Deas officiating.

Donna Underwood

Donna Underwood, 56, Live Oak, Fla. passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2013 after a long illness. The Jacksonville, Fla. native moved to Live Oak from Jacksonville in 1968 and was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. She is survived by her father: Charles "Buck" Jenkins, Live Oak, Fla.; daughter: Malisa ; two brothers: James Jenkins, Pensacola, Fla., Michael Jenkins, Live Oak, Fla.; four grandchildren: Mikaila, Christy, Codey and Raelee. Services were held at 10 a.m. on Monday, March 4, at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Bob Richardson officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Della Elizabeth Lepper

Della Elizabeth Lepper, 81, a resident of Dowling Park, died unexpectedly early Wednesday morning, Feb. 27, 2013 in the Good Samaritan Center in Dowling Park. A lifelong resident of Suwannee County, Mrs. Lepper was the daughter of the late Lamar and Mildred Platt Leonard. Mrs. Lepper was a homemaker and together with her husband, Harry she not only raised their three children but went on to touch the lives of over fifty-two children in her work with the Advent Christian Village. In her spare time, Mrs. Lepper enjoyed playing solitaire, reading and she will forever be remembered as a marvelous cook. Mrs. Lepper was of the Baptist faith but she enjoyed attending the Advent Christian Village Church. She was preceded in death in 1993 by her beloved husband, Harry; a daughter, Charlotte Lepper and a brother, former Suwannee County Sheriff Robert Leonard.
Mrs. Lepper is survived by her children, Max & Rhonda Lepper of Live Oak; Robin Peters Wonnell and Tim of Indianapolis, IN; Beth Ann Lepper and Tom Jurgensen of Roswell, GA; brothers, Paul Leonard of Tavares, Fla. and Donald Wilson of Mascott, Fla. Her three beloved grandchildren, Beau Lepper; Kate Baxter and Samantha Peters and her much adored great-grandchildren, Ethan Lepper, Isaac Lepper, Erin Lepper and Zeke Baxter also survive.
Funeral services for Mrs. Lepper were conducted on Saturday, March 2, 2013 in the Advent Christian Village Church with Rev. Ron Thomas and Rev. John Harper officiating. Interment followed in the Pine Level Cemetery in Suwannee County. Visitation was held Friday evening. Paul Edward White

Paul Edward White, 81, passed away on Wednesday, Feb.  27, 2013. He was born in South Miami, Fla., on March 26, 1931, to the late John Robert White and Della Beckham White.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years: Jewel Crabtree White; three daughters: Della Rebecca White, Barbara Bernice Martens (Bruce), Naomi Lynay Moyer (James); one grandson: Paul Edward Martens; three brothers: George Preston White (Melody), Charley I. White (Kay), and Richard L. White (Carolyn); and three sisters: Doris Jean Hasty, Mary Etta Powell, and Barbara Ann Knost (Jim). He was preceded in death by one brother: John Robert White.
He was a Navy and Air Force veteran, and he retired from the Florida Department of Transportation as a District Permit Engineer. He loved hunting and taught Hunter Education and Firearms Safety in the Everglades Region for the Florida Game and Fresh Water Fish Commission.
He was one of Jehovah's Witnesses and a memorial service will be held at the North Live Oak Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses at 4468 North U.S. Highway 129, Live Oak, Fla., on a later date.

Melba S. Law, 77, Wellborn, Fla. passed away on Saturday, March 2, 2013 after a long illness. The life long resident of Wellborn was a member of Crawford Lake Primitive Baptist Church. Mrs. Law is survived by her two sons: Doyle Law, Wellborn, Fla., Tracey Law, Apex, NC; one brother: Flarzell Strickland, Live Oak, Fla.; three grandchildren: Camron, Andrew and Taylor. Services were held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 5 at Crawford Lake Primitive Baptist Church with Rev. Sammy Harris officiating. Interment will follow in church cemetery.
