Chipola College scored six first-inning runs, erasing an early 2-0 deficit, and cruised to a 12-4 win over Tallahassee Community College on Friday evening.
The loss dropped TCC (22-17) one game below .500 in Panhandle Conference play. At 5-6, the Eagles are now three games out of the all-important second-place spot in the conference standing and face a must-win situation when they host the Indians on Saturday in the back end of the home-and-home series with the nation’s eighth-ranked team. Meanwhile, Chipola (32-9-1, 8-3) kept pace with conference leader Pensacola Junior College, the nation’s No. 1 team. The Indians enter play on Saturday one game out of the PC lead.
Offensively, TCC was led by former Suwannee High standout Rheed Baldwin, who went 3-for-4, and Brian Hartsfield, who went 2-for-4.
