Local man acquitted of sex crimes

A Suwannee County jury found a local man not guilty of sex crimes April 9.

Michael Thomas Peters, 30, 17216 47th Dr., Wellborn, was charged with one count of capital sexual battery and one count of lewd or lascivious molestation of a child under the age of 12. He was arrested and taken into custody in March 2006.

The jury deliberated for less than an hour before rendering its verdict.
