A Suwannee County man has been arrested in Columbia County for burglary, possession of burglary tools and resisting arrest without violence.
According to a Lake City Police Department report, Jeffrey Allen Stanavich, of 2677 113th Street, Live Oak, burglarized Baya Pharmacy West and Baya Pharmacy East in Lake City.
Lake City Police Department Officer Larry Butler heard an alarm at Baya Pharmacy West located on US 90 west while on patrol, the report states.
Once at the business, Butler noticed the drive-through window had been broken.
LCPD officers Joe Lucas and Jason Golub then went to Baya Pharmacy East on southeast Baya to check it out.
The officers saw a vehicle behind the building, but the vehicle fled as officers approached.
Sometime later, the vehicle was spotted near Baya Point Drive, at which point two occupants fled.
A pair of gloves and a black sweatshirt were found in the car. Surveillance footage showed a suspect break the drive-through glass wearing a pair of orange and black gloves. it is not clear if the gloves found in the car match those on the surveillance tape.
LCPD K-9 deputy Randy Harrison was called in to track the suspects.
Stanavich was found hiding in a wooded area south of Baya Point. The other suspect was identified but not found.
Stanavich was arrested June 4 and transported to the Columbia County Jail. He later posted a $16,000 bond.
