Campaign coffers beginning to swell

Who’s contributed what - and how much - to whose campaign? And just how big is so-and-so’s war chest? The following is a list of contributions made to local office-seekers. The list is current through July 18 for local candidates, and through August 1 for state attorney candidates. The figures are from local and state election officials.



Third Circuit State Attorney

• Todd Hingson raised $42,828.61. Hingson donated $1,964.48 to his own campaign in the form of a check and in-kind services. Several businesses donated in the form of checks. Several individuals donated in the form of cash, checks and in-kind services.

• Robert L. “Skip” Jarvis raised $43,165. Jarvis contributed $35,115 to his own campaign in the form of loans. Two businesses donated in the form of checks. Several individuals contributed in the form of cash, checks and in-kind services.

• Alex Prins raised $50,342. Prins contributed $45,400 to his own campaign in the form of loans. A number of businesses donated in the form of checks and a number of individuals donated in the form of checks and in-kind services.

Superintendent of Schools

• Charles Blalock raised $4,382.27. Blalock donated $3,257.27 to his own campaign in the form of checks and in-kind services. A number of individuals donated in the form of checks.

• David Laxton has collected $15,775 in contributions. Laxton contributed $15,000 to his own campaign in the form of a loan. Several other individuals also contributed to his campaign in the form of cash and checks.

• Jerry Scarborough has raised $19,126. Scarborough contributed $17,500 to his own campaign in the form of a loan. Two businesses made donations in the form of checks and a number of individuals donated in the form of checks and in-kind services.



Sheriff

• Tony Cameron has raised $12,219.88. Cameron contributed $1,100 to his own campaign in the form of checks and loans. Several businesses donated in the form of checks. Several individuals donated in the form of cash, checks and in-kind services.

• Neal Croft has raised $12,370.47. Croft contributed $6,075 to his own campaign in the form of loans.



Clerk of Circuit Court

• Barry Baker has collected $12,780.80. Baker contributed $10,000 to his own campaign in the form of a loan. Baker received contributions from one business in the form of a check and from a number of individuals in the form of cash, checks or in-kind services.

• Kenneth Dasher has raised $7,250. Dasher contributed $5,250 to his own campaign in the form of a loan. Dasher received contributions from one business and from several individuals in the form of checks.

• David Taylor has collected $8,480. Taylor contributed $6,500 to his own campaign in the form of loans. One business donated in the form of in-kind services. Several individuals donated in the form of checks.



Tax Collector

• Sharon Wiggins Jordan has collected $24,718.63. Jordan contributed $20,360 to her campaign in the form of cash and checks. Several individuals donated in the form of cash, checks and in-kind services.

• Dwight Stansel has collected $22,300. Stansel contributed $20,000 to his campaign in the form of loans. Several businesses donated in the form of checks. One committee donated in the form of a check. Several individuals donated in the form of cash and checks.



County Commission, District 3

• Ivie Fowler has raised $3,350. Fowler donated $2,500 to his own campaign in the form of checks. Several individuals donated in the form of checks.

• Wendell Hill has collected $4,462, which he contributed to his own campaign in the form of loans and in-kind services.

• Jerry Poole has raised $100, which he donated to his own campaign in the form of cash.

• Andy Robinson has raised $3,500. Robinson contributed the funds to his own campaign in the form of a check and loans.



County Commission, District 1

• Jesse Caruthers has collected $1,600, $600 of which he contributed to his campaign in the form of a check and a loan. Several individuals donated in the form of checks.

• Wendell Feagle has collected $50. An individual donated in the form of cash.

• Robert Walter Makela has collected $700, all of which he donated to his campaign in the form of cash.

• Walter Starling has raised $4,500, all of which he contributed to his campaign in the form of cash and loans.



County Commission, District 5

• Randy Hatch has raised $2,905. Hatch donated $100 to his own campaign in the form of cash. A business donated in the form of in-kind services and several individuals contributed in the form of checks and loans.

• Wesley Wainwright has donated $1,700 to his own campaign in the form of cash.



School Board, District 2

• Muriel Owens has raised $754.55, all of which she donated to her campaign in the form of cash.

• Jessie Philpot has collected $700 in contributions, all of which he lent to his campaign in the form of a loan.
