A belated 'attaboy' to Chief Buddy Williams and the Live Oak Police Department on the success of the inaugural Policeman's Ball Sept. 23. The men and women in blue raised more than $27,000 to benefit the Exceptional Student Education program at county schools. More than 300 folks turned out for the event, despite inclement weather left over from Tropical Storm Fay.
The proceeds will fund computer software, communications devices and other equipment necessary to the proper functioning of the ESE program. Roughly 200 children will benefit. We can't think of a better cause.
