<font color="#FF0000">COURTS:</font> One year in jail for driver in crash that hurt 5 teens
Chrysten Allyson Hudson, 19, of Lake City, was sentenced Wednesday to one year in county jail while awaiting entrance into a drug treatment facility.
Hudson was the driver in a June 2009 Suwannee County wreck that injured five area teenagers, according to an earlier sheriff's report.
She was arrested on a charge of DUI and reckless driving both resulting in serious bodily injury. Court documents suggested she was under the influence of alcohol and/or marijuana at the time of the accident.
Hudson was headed east on 296th Street around 6 p.m. June 10 when the 2006 Mercury she was driving left the roadway and struck a tree, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Wednesday, the DUI charge was amended and Hudson was formally sentenced on three counts of reckless driving resulting in serious bodily injury. In addition, she must serve 10 years probation, complete the Mist treatment program, write a formal letter of apology, attend DUI school within two years, and must pay nearly $500 in court costs and fees.
In other cases:
Schaun Matthew Long, 37, of Live Oak, was sentenced Thursday to 7 years in prison for trafficking in a controlled substance. After prison, he must serve five years' probation for three counts of grand theft III with the first two years on drug offender probation. According to sheriff's reports, Long admitted to stealing over 3,000 bales of pine straw from a former employer, which he sold in Tallahassee and Jacksonville. He must pay nearly $51,000 in fines, courts costs and restitution.
Eian David Allen, 24, of Live Oak, was sentenced Wednesday to 18 months in prison on two counts of burglary of a dwelling. Each charge carries six years' probation to be served concurrently. In addition, Allen must serve five years' probation on two counts of grand theft III, which will run concurrent to the previously stated sentence. He was ordered to pay two victims restitution totaling $4725.00 and nearly $1,300 in court costs and investigation fees.
