When asked how they felt about the outcome of the Nov. 6 presidential election, the response from Lafayette County residents was a mixed bag.
“I was surprised,” said Jana Hart. “But I was proud of Lafayette County’s voter turnout.”
The turnout here was 75 percent.
Dolores Ceraso said, “I was disappointed,” and her husband Angie said, “Four more years?”
Rich Wisdahl explained that Obamacare, which will not be repealed by Romney who lost the election, is a compromise because of the inability of our government leaders to change the entire healthcare system.
“It’s been forced on everybody,” he said. “Unless something else comes along.”
Wisdahl said he spoke to his daughter, who has been many places overseas recently and she told him the perception on the part of most people who were polled in the areas she has been were 80 percent for Obama and 20 percent for Romney.
“That’s the perception, for what it’s worth,” said Wisdahl.
John Hewett said, “All I can tell you is look at the stock market right now. The thing’s crashing all around the world.”
Chuck Spradling said, “I’m glad it’s over.”
Alton Scott stated, “You do have to look forward and I think that’s what we should all do. You’ve got to work with what you’ve got.”
“I’m very happy,” said Marion Garland. “I’m glad he’s (Obama) back.”
Garland said she wants Obama to continue what he’s been doing.
“I trust him,” she said. “I believe what he says. I had absolutely no faith in anything Romney said. I don’t think he has any heart for the middle class. I don’t believe he understands what’s going on in our world.”
Garland’s friend Sydney Clary had the same sentiments and said she was glad Obama won.
Another who said she was happy with the outcome was Virginia Milam.
“I’m glad he’s back,” she said. “Romney was just too arrogant.”
Milam said we’ve got the rich and the poor folks in this nation and some middle class.
“What we need to do is try to pull the poor into the middle class,” she said. “Romney didn’t even talk about the poor, not even nothing.”

The state of Florida Commission on Ethics has ruled Wednesday there was no probable cause found to determine former Third Circuit State Attorney Robert L. “Skip” Jarvis Jr. misused his position while in office or used information not available to the general public for the benefit of himself or another person by utilizing databases to make searches on people.
