The National Invitational Tournament is on its way. North Carolina, UCONN and Mississippi State are favorites. Confused, you say? This is the other tournament. Unless you are a basketballholic there will be no pool for the NIT. The NIT only has 32 teams in its tourney. If you have been following Stony Brook or William and Mary, pay attention to the NIT. College football can't figure out a tournament and basketball has 97 teams playing.
The NCAA tourney is the one that will be on TV longer then an orbiter flight. The teams to watch have a K in them. Kentucky, Kansas, Kansas State and duKe are sure to be at least half of the Final Four. This is from a guy who picked the Colts to win the Super Bowl.
The West bracket will feature Florida and Florida State. The only way they will get to play each other is if FSU beats Syracuse and if Florida beats Kansas State. Don't get your hopes up, this isn't football. As a matter of fact the Seminoles and Gators could be contenders in the NIT but not at this dance.
The action begins March 19 with the 64th and 65th seeds squaring off. By March 21 we will be tired of hearing the word "upset." Good luck with your bracketology.
Suwannee Notes: Friday night the NJROTC put on an outstanding drill routine at the high school. Due to the weather it was held in the gym to a standing room only crowd. I suggest you catch the next one.
