Lake City —
A Wellborn man was killed in a traffic crash late Friday night on I-10 in Columbia County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Robert Allen Bowmer, 35, Wellborn, was killed after being ejected from a vehicle he was driving, according to FHP.
Bowmer was westbound on I-10 in a 2004 Ford Expedition at mile marker 297 around 11:34 p.m. in the inside lane when he allowed the Ford to travel across the outside lane and onto the north shoulder. Bowmer over-steered the Ford back to the left which caused it to rotate in a counterclockwise direction and travel back across both westbound lanes and enter the median.
The Ford continued its counterclockwise rotation in the median and then overturned numerous times, ejecting Bowmer, who was not wearing a seatbelt, in the process, according to FHP.
Bowmer was pronounced deceased at the scene.
