Mayo —
Nationally recognized Veterans Day falls on Sunday, Nov. 11 and many across the country will be celebrating the event on Monday the 12th, including Lafayette County.
American Legion Post 105 in Mayo is fully prepared to honor our military servicemen with a full day of events on Mon., Nov. 12.
First thing in the morning, American Legion Post 105 will be at Lighthouse Christian Academy on SR 51 to raise the first American flag on their brand new flagpole. The event begins at 8:30 a.m. and will include a breakfast.
At 11 a.m. there will be a small ceremony and laying of a wreath on the courthouse lawn.
The wreath laying “is in memory of all veterans,” said American Legion Post 105 Commander Alton Scott.
Then, as they do every year, members of American Legion Post 105 will be visiting veterans at Oakridge Assisted Living Facility to remind them they have not been forgotten.
Remember to honor all veterans on this day and always.
