Lafayette Boy Scouts need more recruits

Mayo — Boy Scout Troop 66 in Lafayette County is looking for some new recruits to join in on all the fun and educational activities of the group.

Members meet once a week on Saturday at 6 p.m. at the home of Paul Askew and each week the kids take part in scheduled events that are not only educational, but loads of fun in the process.

Group leader Josh Miller says all the young troop members are learning different types of skills, while at the same time enjoying each adventure. Gun safety, survival skills, rock formations and map reading are just a few of the activities these young men have already experienced. Their latest adventure was a treasure hunt.

Even more fun and exciting adventures are being planned similar to the trip the troop took out to Camp Weed in December. If your child is in grade one through five and is looking to expand his or her (yes, girls are welcome, too!) horizons by learning exciting new things with other troop members, like how to fish, grow a garden, make a bird house, read a map, and learn survival skills, then Boy Scout Troop 66 is the place to be.

For more information please call Josh Miller at 386-294-2545 or Paul Askew at 386-688-4709. Parents, please note: you must accompany your child on any outings, but don’t worry because you will have as much fun as your child.
