Mayo —
Gail Garrard claimed the District 2 Lafayette County Commission seat from Thomas (Boogie) Pridgeon Jr. by just three votes after a recount Wednesday morning, Elections Supervisor Lana Morgan said.
Garrard received 767 votes to Pridgeon’s 764. The other contender in the race, Kevin Barrington received 651 votes.
In the District 1 school board race, Darren Driver defeated Clark Hendrick 1,281 to 588. Derek Severance received 344 votes.
Tim Pearson claimed the District 3 school board seat, beating Robert (Bobby) Koon 1,318 to 879 and Reba Trawick defeated Jerry Hill 1,359 to 824 for the District 5 school board seat.
Of the 4,385 registered voters in the county, 2,237, or 51.01 percent of the voters participated, which Morgan called “not good.”
“We usually have a 60 to 70 percent turnout,” she said.
