High wind gusts, thunderstorms predicted

Live Oak — The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for an upper level disturbance that will likely bring numerous showers and scattered thunderstorms, with the possibility of isolated strong thunderstorms, affecting the Suwannee River Valley and southeast Georgia today and tonight. The advisory stated that the main threat is the wind gusts predicted up to 55 mph.   

The hazardous weather outlook predicts scattered thunderstorms late Thursday afternoon. On Saturday, a significant low pressure system that will approach the area may be accompanied by numerous thunderstorms, possibly severe, the hazardous weather outlook stated.

The highs today are around 81 degrees with an overnight low of 62 degrees and a 60 percent chance of precipitation.

According to the NWS, the anticipated high for Thursday is 86 degrees, with a 30 percent chance of showers and possible thunderstorms in the afternoon. The overnight low Thursday is predicted to be around 59 degrees.

Friday may bring mostly sunny skies with a high of 87 degrees and a low of 64 degrees. During the day and overnight Friday, the NWS said there is a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms.

Over the weekend, the NWS predicts 60 percent chance of rain and thunderstorms are likely, with highs in the upper 70s during the day on Saturday and Sunday and an overnight low of 62.

On Sunday night the chance of rain decreases to 20 percent with an overnight low of 52 degrees, the NWS said.
