Man loses life in fiery wreck

Live Oak — A Perry man was killed Sunday in Lafayette County after the semi truck he was driving rolled over and caught fire, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Bobby Lee Omans, 27, Perry, was traveling north on SW FP Folsom Road (Forrest Roadway) Sunday around 2:45 p.m. when he reportedly failed to properly negotiate a right turn. The 1999 Western Star semi rolled onto its left side. A post collision fire consumed the semi’s cab and Omans, who was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Passenger Donna Ruth Raker, 28, of Wewahitchka, Fla., was able to escape the wreckage before the fire started. She was transported to Shands UF in serious condition.
