A Mayo man was brutally beaten by three Live Oak teenagers in his home Friday morning, according to a press release from the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office.
Police say the victim was struck first in the face with a large metal wrench by Kelyn Loston, 17, of 504 Webb Drive.
After the man fell to the floor, Dylan Beam, 17, of SW 2nd St., and Tyler Carter, 15, of Liberty Street, allegedly kicked him repeatedly.
After beating the man, the three juveniles reportedly searched him and his home for cash.
The three were unable to locate anything of value except the victim’s cellular telephone, police say. They took the phone and fled the scene, according to reports.
Afterward the victim gave physical descriptions of the juveniles to Lafayette County Deputy Randy Henderson.
Through a combined effort between Deputy Henderson and assisting deputies, Robert Lawson and Jacquelyn Tysall, a possible location was narrowed down to an apartment at the Lafayette Apartments. Beam and Carter fled from a window at the back of the apartment as the deputies approached. They were quickly apprehended. Loston was also taken into custody at the apartment a short time later.
All three juveniles were charged with home invasion robbery and aggravated battery after the victim reportedly identified them in a photo lineup.
