Raymond Dees, age 86, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 7, 2012 at the Lafayette Health Care Center following an extended illness.  Mr. Dees was a native and lifelong resident of Lafayette County, Fla., and was born on Aug. 19, 1926 to the late Walter Kenyon Dees and the late former Katie Exalona Sims.
Mr. Dees was a member of the First Assembly of God in Mayo and was a farmer and carpenter by trade. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting, gardening, canning, curing meat, barbequing, and spending time with friends.
Mr. Dees was preceded in death by his wife, Edwina Dees, in 2002.
He is survived by 5 nieces, Rika Ann Starling and Judy Dees Sweat, both of Mayo, Fla., Jacky Glenn and Shirley Mills, both of Auburndale, Fla., and Gwen Mathis, of Tallahassee, Fla., 2 nephews, Roscoe Dees Jr. of Dunedin, Fla. and Wayne Dees, of Palm Harbor, Fla., his very close friends, Tommy and Cindy Tysall, of Mayo, Fla., and their children, Travis Neal Tysall, Jacquelyn Tysall, and Doris Elizabeth Tysall.
Funeral Services was held at the First Assembly of God in Mayo on Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2012 at 12 p.m. with Bro. Kenny Sullivan officiating.
In lieu of flowers those wishing to make donations may make them to First Assembly of God in Mayo or Haven Hospice in Lake City.
