Tom Lashley Sr.
Aug. 3, 1941-April 7, 2012
Tom Lashley Sr. was a retired former farmer, insurance agent, painter and multi-term school board member for Suwannee County. He lived his entire life (except for two years in gainesville), in Live Oak, Florida, and was extremely proud of his community and family. He was a devout Christian and loving father to his wife, three children, and nine grand-children. Hobbies included reading, talking, and spending time with family. He spent many hours at nursing homes, and always tried to attend funerals, because he was worried that not enough people would show up for the deceased and their families. He believed strongly in America and its values, and in its ability to be the "light on the hill" for the world. He will be forever missed by his family and friends. Heaven gained a good man on April 7, 2012. Mr. Lashley is survived by his wife of 46 years: Jean Lashley, Live Oak, Fla.; three sons: Tom & Dana Lashley Jr., Mayo, Fla., Clint & Wendy Lashley, Live Oak, Fla., Brad & Alicia Lashley, Panama City, Fla. and nine grandchildren. Services were held at Tiger Lake Baptist Church on Tuesday, April 10 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Melvin Owens officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery.
