Mayo — Vera Linda Shiver



Mrs. Vera Linda Shiver, 68, a lifelong resident of Mayo, Florida passed away Sunday October 9, 2011 at Shands Live Oak Hospital. Mrs. Shiver was born October 10, 1942 to the late Delmer Webb, and the late Thelma McMullen Webb. She was of the Christian Faith and was a member of the Northside Church of Christ. Mrs. Shiver co-founded Bass Assassin Lures Incorporated in 1988 along with her husband and family. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. In her spare time she enjoyed cooking, reading, fishing, and helping her friends, neighbors, and those in need.

She is survived by, her husband of 51 years, Robin Shiver Sr., of Mayo, 4 sons, Robin Shiver Jr., and wife Teresa, of Mayo, Norris Shiver, and wife Cindy, of Lake City, FL,  Lee Shiver, and Lane Shiver, both of Mayo, 2 brothers, Jimmy Webb, of Schenectady, NY, and Roger Webb, of Perry, FL, 6 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Funeral services for Mrs. Shiver were held at 11:00AM Wednesday October 12, 2011 at Airline Baptist Church with Bro. John Zellner and Bro. Tim Seaton officiating. Interment followed in Northside Church of Christ Cemetery. The family received friends from 6-8PM Tuesday evening, also at Airline Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Ruby B. Starling



Ruby B. Starling, age 89, passed away on Wednesday, October 5, 2011, at Shands Lake Shore Hospital.  She was born in Taylor County, Florida, to the late Gordon S. Barden and Ida Honeywell Barden, and was a native and lifelong resident of Lafayette County.  She was of the Baptist faith, and was the first woman that Buckeye hired in the mill for 12 years, she also worked for the Forestry Service at Crapps Tower for 8 years.  Mrs. Starling enjoyed and loved her family and home.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Brady Starling.

Survived by (2) sons; Jimmy Starling and wife Joyce, Brady Starling and wife Louise, all of Mayo, FL, (1) brother; Alex Barden of Canada, (6) grandchildren, (11) great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Graveside Services were held at Midway Baptist Church Cemetery on Sunday, October 9, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. with Pastor Mary Starling officiating.  Family will receive friends on Saturday evening from 6 pm – 8 pm at Burns Mayo Chapel.
