W eyman Dean Funderburk, 78, of Mayo passed away peacefully at his home on Sept. 22, 2012.
Mr. Funderburk was born in Lafayette County on Sept. 5, 1934 to Thomas Funderburk and the former Beatrice Morgan. He served his country in the U.S. Army, was a member of Midway Baptist Church, and enjoyed fishing, wood working, and spending time with his grandchildren.
Mr. Funderburk is survived by his wife of 56 years Mrs. Mary Edna Funderburk of Mayo; 2 daughters, Nona Charlene Bullard (Edward) of Live Oak, and Valerie Jean Jordan (Dave) of Lake City; 2 brothers Aldreth and Leaun Funderburk both of Mayo; a sister Tomma Jean Williams of Mayo; grandchildren: Daria Gamble, Derek Shiver, Matthew Hall, Blake Thomas, and Caleb Jordan; great grandchildren: Austin, Puahina, Simeon, Keagan, Kreston, Case, Jaden, Aleigha, and Wyatt; a nephew Charles Funderburk and niece Kim Edwards, as well as a host of other nieces and nephews.
A funeral service was held and was conclude at Joe P. Burns Funeral Home Mayo Chapel on Monday, Septe. 24 at 11:00 am with Bro. Danny Rogers officiating. Visitation will be held Sunday, September 23 from 6-8 pm.

William Franklin Thompson

William Franklin Thompson, age 73, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2012 at North Florida Regional Hospital following an extended illness. Mr. Thompson was born on March 28, 1939 in Gainesville, Fla. to the late Robert Franklin Thompson, and the late former Reba Young. He has been a resident of Mayo, Fla. since 1984 after moving from Lake Butler, Fla. He was of the Baptist faith and was a member of Antioch Baptist Church in LaCrosse, Fla., Mr. Thompson worked for the Florida Department of Corrections where he retired as a lieutenant after 21 years of years of service. While working there, he acquired the nickname “Goat”. Mr. Thompson was an avid NASCAR and Florida Gator fan.
He is survived by, his wife of 41 years, Patricia Bryan Thompson, of Mayo, 1 son, Robert “Bobby” Thompson, of Mayo, 2 step-sons, Bart Plemmons (Joellen), of Trenton, Fla, and Bret Plemmons (Pam), of Chiefland, Fla, 1 step-daughter, Regina Johnson (Ricky), of Archer, Fla, 1 brother, James “Buck” Pickett, of Hawthorne, 4 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Funeral services will be held at the Graveside in Airline Cemetery at 11 a.m. on Saturday Sept. 22, 2012 with Bro. Chip Parker and Bro. Howell Koon officiating. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at the Joe P. Burns Chapel in Mayo prior to the service on Saturday morning. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to haven Hospice.
